Senior/Disabled Hazardous Fuels Reduction Assistance Program
The Plumas Fire Safe Council has a program to assist Seniors (65 and older) and physically disabled persons in meeting the requirements of Public Resources Code (PRC) 4291.  Depending on eligible persons household income the Plumas Fire Safe Council will provide financial assistance in creating a defensible space around their home.  The Fire Safe Council will provide a free on site consultation to determine the work needed, obtain bids from qualified contractors, and give the homeowner a final cost to them for work needed.  This final cost could range from no cost to paying 100% of the cost of the work depending on household income.  The Fire Safe Council will supervise the contractor to insure all work is performed in a satisfactory manner that will meet the requirements of PRC 4291.  For more information contact Mike McCourt at mike@plumascorporation.org or by phone at (530) 283-0829.

Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program
The Plumas County Fire Safe Council is partnering with the Plumas National Forest to create a collaborative forest management plan.  Funding for the development of a plan was awarded through Title II of the Secure Rural Schools Act for the creation of a forest management plan that would be ready for submittal to the Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration (CFLR) Program for implementation funds.  This process encourages initial and consistent involvement from members of the public, utilizing local knowledge of the land and working to create a plan that is widely accepted and meets the needs of the forest and its users.  This process will focus on areas of the Plumas National Forest that lie within the Wildland Urban Interface, as well as priority watersheds.  For more information on the CFLR process and to get involved, visit www.featherriversc.org or contact Hannah Hepner at PlumasFireSafe@plumascorporation.org or by phone at (530) 283-0829.
